Curriculum Goals

Literacy Development enables children to develop language and appreciate literature.  Listening, speaking,reading and writing activities are included to build communication, vocabulary, letter recognition and comprehension.
   
Mathematics activities are hands on experiences and include numbers, patterns, counting, sorting, measuring and picture graphs.
   
Science experiences include working with sensory tables, observing, predicting, problem solving and exploring.
   
Music promotes memory, creative expression and body awareness. Children will explore sound, volume, tempo and rhythm.
   
Art enables youngsters to creatively express thoughts and feelings.  Spatial relationships, color and shapes are reinforced.
   
Gross-motor activities provide an opportunity for balancing, jumping, climbing, stretching, bicycling and running.
   
Fine-motor activities assist in small muscle development and eye-hand coordination.  Using puzzles, laces, pegboards, playdough, moonsand, legos, scissors and crayons; children will develop skills necessary for school readiness.
   
Dramatic Play enables children to role play, use reasoning and communication skills and can improve social skills and self-esteem.  Using dress up, puppet shows and other props children stimulate their imagination promoting neuron growth.
   
Block Play provides experience with shape and size discrimination, cause and effect, classification and problem solving skills.
